LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF

Updated: Jul 13, 2025

Let Me introduce Myself. For those that don’t know me I am a Wire work and Polymer Clay Artist.. plus I do dabble in anything that takes my interest really. My name is Donna (Dee). I have been working with these mediums for over 15 years and never get tired of creating with them.

I am a Mother of 2 beautiful boys (Men), have 2 gorgeous Grandchildren and have been married to my wonderful Husband for 40 years. After moving all over Australia for various reasons, I feel really grounded where I am at the moment, in a cute little Town at the foothills of the Great Divide in Victoria. This has given me the ability to create and do what I am passionate about. Not making for making sake but to produce what I love.

My jewellery making started out as a hobby making for Friends and Family. My frustration grew as I could not source the right beads for my work. I was at a Bead Show in Melbourne and there it was….polymer clay. It was like a whole new world had opened up to me. I CAN MAKE MY OWN BEADS!!!!

Of course there was a lot to learn about this new medium, and 15 plus years later I am still learning. I was always interested in wearable art. A label I guess I could slot into, to create the weird and wonderful. I attended millinery courses, silver smithing courses and of course polymer clay courses. My idea to incorporate them ALL!!!!

I began wire working crystals and stones, which I loved and incorporated polymer clay, feathers and Swarovski Crystals and pearls in my designs to create one off wearable art pieces, which I am still doing today.

We had moved the Perth Western Australian in 2016, where I joined a polymer clay art group. W A has the most amazing and sharing Polymer Clay Artists, I think this is where I learnt most of the hints and tips. I entered a decorate a bra competition while I lived there too, to raise awareness and money for Breast Cancer. I created a bra from polymer clay, of course with feathers included. It was based on the black and white Zentangle drawings. I called it “Txts in a Tangle” and I WON the Breast in show!!!  It was a lot of fun. I was lucky enough to attend the Polymer Clay Expo in Perth WA in 2019. Amazing International and Australian artists all running workshops over 3 days. Mind was blown!

After returning to Victoria in 2018, I continued with more creating, concentrating more on the wire work side of things. I entered a piece into the Melbourne Royal Show in 2023 in the Jewellery section and again…I WON. I won the jewellery section 1st place and the Overall Best in Show for Jewellery. I was over the moon to say the least.

So what am I up to now? I am still creating. I have just launched my new website www.deeandme.com.au

I want to take my art to the world. I have some awesome ideas on collections, wedding pieces (with a difference) and much more. So watch this space.

I intend to begin a YouTube channel to help beginners with hints and tips and I also intend to create tutorials that you can buy for bigger projects.

I love my Dee & Me motto. Be You, Uniquely YOU, as I love to inspire and create with no limitations and encourage others to do the same, or at least wear what you want, when you want and just be you. Until next time. Happy Creating.
